Creating and Managing Diagrams

Diagrams let you create focused visual views of your model.

Creating a Diagram

  1. In the Tree View, find the Diagrams section
  2. Click the + button
  3. A new diagram is created and opens on the canvas
  4. Give it a descriptive name (e.g., "Infrastructure Overview")

Adding Elements to a Diagram

New nodes (from Toolbox):

  • Drag a Node Type from the Toolbox onto the canvas
  • This creates a new node instance AND places it on the current diagram

Existing nodes (from Tree View):

  • Drag a node from the Tree View onto the canvas
  • The existing node is added to the diagram (no duplicate created)

Relationships auto-appear:

  • When both ends of a relationship are on the diagram, the relationship line is shown automatically

Switching Between Diagrams

  • Click a different diagram name in the Tree View
  • The canvas updates to show that diagram's elements

Removing Elements from a Diagram

  • Select an element and press Delete or use the context menu
  • Choose Remove from diagram to keep the element in the model but hide it from this view
  • Choose Delete from model to permanently delete the element

Tips

  • Create separate diagrams for different audiences (e.g., "Technical View" vs "Business View")
  • A node can appear on multiple diagrams
  • Use meaningful names so team members can find the right diagram quickly
