Recovering a Deleted Model (Trash)
BeginnerRecovering a Deleted Model (Trash)
Deleting a model no longer removes it immediately. Instead it goes to the Trash, where you have 30 days to change your mind before it's permanently deleted. This safety net applies on every plan.
Where the Trash lives
Open your model gallery. Alongside the Models tab you'll find a Trash tab. It lists every model you've deleted that hasn't yet been permanently removed, showing for each one:
- the model name
- who deleted it
- how many days remain until it's permanently deleted
Restoring a model
- Go to the Trash tab.
- Find the model you want back.
- Click Restore.
The model returns to your gallery and is fully editable again. It goes back to the folder it came from; if that folder no longer exists, it lands at the top level. If a model with the same name now exists, the restored copy gets "(restored)" added to its name so nothing is overwritten.
Reopen it to keep working. Deleting a model disconnects anyone who had it open. After restoring, open the model again to resume editing — it won't reconnect on its own.
Deleting a model for good
To remove a model before the 30 days are up, open the Trash tab and click Delete permanently. You'll be asked to confirm, because this cannot be undone — permanent deletion removes the model and its history for good.
If you do nothing, Metapad clears models out of the Trash automatically once they've been there for 30 days.
Who can delete and restore
- Personal models — only you, the owner, can delete or restore them.
- Team models — the owner and team administrators can delete a model and see it in the Trash. Other team members don't see deleted models.
