Searching and Filtering
BeginnerHow to find elements in your model using search and the filter system.
As your model grows, search and filters help you find what you need.
Quick Search
- Look at the Model Navigator (left panel)
- Find the search bar at the top
- Type a search term (e.g., "server" or "Alice")
- The Model Navigator filters to show only matching elements
- Clear the search to see everything again
Search matches against element labels and descriptions.
Using Filters
Filters let you narrow down the Model Navigator by specific criteria:
- Open the Filters area in the Model Navigator
- Set filter conditions:
- By Type: Show only specific Node Types (e.g., only "Server" nodes)
- By Property: Match property values (e.g., "status = active")
- The Model Navigator updates to show only matching elements
- Remove filters to return to the full view
Combining Search and Filters
- Filters and search can be used together
- Filters narrow the set of visible elements, then search further refines within that set
Tips
- Use filters to focus on a specific aspect of your model (e.g., all elements of a certain type)
- Search is case-insensitive
- Clear all filters when you want to see the complete model again
